Real People Teaching Real Skills
We started uvientoras in 2018 because too many people felt overwhelmed by financial jargon. Our mission is simple – break down budget management into practical steps that actually make sense.
How We Got Here
What began as weekend workshops in community halls has grown into comprehensive programs reaching thousands across Australia. Each milestone reflects lessons learned from real students.
Foundation Year
Launched our first workshop series in Queanbeyan. Fifteen attendees showed up on a rainy Saturday morning. We knew we were onto something important.
Digital Expansion
Moved programs online during lockdowns. Discovered many preferred learning from home anyway. Built our first structured curriculum with student feedback driving every module.
Community Growth
Reached 5,000 students through workshops and online sessions. Added specialized tracks for different life stages after countless requests from participants.
What Drives Our Work
These aren't corporate buzzwords. They're principles we actually follow when designing programs and working with students.
No Jargon Promise
Financial language can be deliberately confusing. We translate everything into plain speech. If a term needs explaining twice, we find a clearer way to teach it.
Judgment-Free Zone
Everyone's financial situation is different. We've seen students from all backgrounds – what matters is where you want to go, not where you've been.
Practical Focus
Theory is great for textbooks. Our programs teach skills you'll use next week. Every lesson includes actions you can take immediately.
Student Privacy
Your financial details stay private. We never share data or use real student information as examples. What happens in class stays in class.
The People Behind uvientoras
Small team, big commitment. We both come from teaching backgrounds and discovered a shared frustration with how financial education was typically delivered.
Alvar Lindström
Financial Education Specialist
Taught economics at secondary level for twelve years before realizing most people needed basic budget skills, not economic theory. Built our first curriculum on a kitchen table.
Cassian Rourke
Program Development Director
Background in adult education and instructional design. Believes the best learning happens when people don't realize they're being taught. Designs all our course structures.
Teaching That Actually Works
We've tried dozens of approaches since 2018. Some bombed spectacularly. Others clicked immediately. What you see in our programs today is what survived years of student feedback.
Built Around Real Challenges
Every module addresses actual problems students bring us. Emergency fund planning came from hearing "unexpected car repairs" mentioned fifty times in one month. Grocery budgeting techniques developed after watching people struggle with rising food costs.
We don't start with spreadsheets. That scares people off. Instead, you'll begin with pen and paper, tracking spending for a week. Once the patterns become clear, we introduce tools that help manage what you've discovered.
- Start where you are, not where textbooks say you should be
- Learn one practical skill per session that you can apply immediately
- Build confidence through small wins before tackling bigger financial goals
- Access ongoing support – questions don't stop when class ends
